Institute for Ethical and Civic Engineering
The Institute for Ethical and Civic Engagement works to nurture and encourage ethical and civic education at CU-Boulder, to prepare our students for a lifetime of service to society as thoughtful, ethical and engaged citizens and contribute to the vitality of the many communities we serve from the local level to the global. The IECE is building on the momentum already established to make ethical and civic engagement a defining characteristic of our educational community. The health of our communities and democracy depends on an engaged and informed citizenry.

INVST Community Studies
INVST Community Studies supports young people in becoming community leaders who engage in compassionate action. By offering courses to CU students and other local learners; by integrating theory, leadership skills training and service; and by structuring meaningful learning opportunities during the academic year and the summers, INVST (pronounced "invest") combines academics with activism. INVST programs focus on social justice and environmental sustainability. INVST also strives to create a sense of community inside the classroom and instructors and students work together to co-create the educational experience. INVST students learn about leadership by participating directly in organizational governance and decision-making. Ultimately, INVST programs help young people become effective and responsible agents for positive change. Upon their graduation from CU, INVST students contribute by helping to solve some of the world's most pressing problems.

Office of Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement
The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement, or ODECE (pronounced Odyssey), coordinates campus-wide initiatives and programs to promote diversity and inclusive excellence. ODECE will develop, implement, and assess university strategies to improve the diversity of faculty, students, and staff as well as to foster a supportive, more inclusive community for all. The mission of ODECE is to enhance, expand, and ensure inclusive excellence through the practice of diversity. ODECE works with faculty, staff, students, and alumni to initiate and enhance opportunities to achieve understanding and excellence through diversity, thereby promoting faculty and student success, enhancing campus climate, and strengthening community engagement.

Service Learning & AmeriCorps Office
The Service Learning and AmeriCorps Office partners across campus and the community to support a teaching and research culture rooted in experiential learning. The office coordinates Colorado Campus Compact's Compact Service Corps AmeriCorps Program, offering the benefits and resources of AmeriCorps membership to students, faculty and community partners. Students earn education scholarship money for completing a term of volunteer service and additional financial support for professional development. Faculty use the AmeriCorps scholarship to structure and motivate community engagement initiatives in their curriculum. Community organizations partner with the Service Learning and AmeriCorps Office in order to receive high quality, long-term volunteers. Each year, the Service Learning and AmeriCorps Office awards grants to faculty and instructors who incorporate service-learning and AmeriCorps into their course. Grants are available for design of a new course or for a major re-design of an existing course, as well as for implementing such courses. Download this pdf for a deeper look at experiential and service learning and a community centered and collaborative way of working. See the website for additional resources.
