A Queer Endeavor is a grassroots, queer-led center for gender, sexual and family diversity in education. Through deep partnerships with district and school leadership, teachers and teacher educators, our work supports safer, more inclusive school communities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ+) youth, families and staff.

Since 2014, we have supported more than 20,000 educators to engage in LGBTQ+-focused professional learning. We are housed in CU Boulder’s School of Education, and we offer professional development services and educational resources and materials to a national audience.

  • Building LGBTQ-Inclusive Capacity Through University-District Partnership

    Additional Info

A Queer Endeavor and Boulder Valley School District have collaborated together since 2015. Our ongoing partnership is guided by two goals: (1) investigating how best to support educator learning of LGBTQ-inclusive practices and (2) building capacity within Boulder Valley School District to support effective programming, policy, and practice that foster safe, equitable learning environments.

  • Educators Moving Policy into Practice: HB1192 Educator Collective

    Additional Info

This project invites a cohort of 25 Colorado K-12 educators to engage in professional learning around the revised Social Studies Standards put forward in House Bill 19-1192: “Inclusion Of American Minorities In Teaching Civil Government” (HB19).

The new Colorado Social Studies Standards were revised and passed in 2022. They require teachers to implement HB1192 by 1) including the history, culture and social contributions of American Indians, Latinos, African Americans, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders and the LGBTQ community, 2) the contributions and persecution of religious minorities, and 3) intersectionality within these communities. The Holocaust and genocide portions must be implemented in Fall 2023, while the rest of the standards must be implemented in the Fall 2024.
