A Queer Endeavor is a grassroots, queer-led center for gender and sexual diversity in education housed in CU Boulder’s School of Education. Through deep partnerships with researchers, education leadership and teachers, our work aims toward safer, more inclusive school communities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ+) youth, families and staff. Since 2014, we have supported more than 7,000 educators to engage in LGBTQ+-focused professional learning. We offer professional development services and educational resources and materials to a national audience.

In 2015, A Queer Endeavor and Boulder Valley School District launched a collaborative partnership. Two goals guide this partnership:

  1. Investigating how best to support educator learning of LGBTQ-inclusive practices
  2. Building capacity within Boulder Valley School District to support effective implementation of programming, policy, and practice that foster safe, equitable learning environments.

CU Boulder’s Office for Outreach and Engagement has funded this project to develop a “train-the-trainer” model of professional learning for emerging experts and to create a cohort of educator-thought partners to develop, test and refine professional development programming.
