CU Boulder’s School of Education, Boulder Bookstore, and the Boulder Public Library invite families, teachers, librarians, and all who love children’s literature to attend the FREE CHILDREN’S BOOK FESTIVAL featuring the following award-winning and debut authors, illustrators, and their books!
- Brittany Cicchese: No More Señora Mimí
- Jenny Sue Kostecki-Shaw: Like You, Like Me
- Julie Leung: Mr. Pei’s Perfect Shapes: The Story of Architect I.M. Pei
- Chris Grabenstein: Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library-The Graphic Novel
- Amalie Howard: Bumps in the Night
- Craig Kofi Farmer: Kwame Crashes the Underworld
The festival includes the following components:
- Saturday, Nov. 9: Day-Long Event at the Boulder Public Library (free, open to the public)
- 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Events include author talks for children and families, a mid-day author panel for teachers and librarians, books sales and signing, activities led by CU students and library staff, exhibitors, and more!
- Continuing education units (CEUs) available for teachers and librarians!
- Friday, Nov. 8: Visits to Local Schools (by invitation)
- The featured authors and illustrators will visit select schools in Boulder Valley, St. Vrain Valley, and other surrounding districts for in-depth experiences focusing on their featured book.
Free resources created by School of Education students can be downloaded from our program website (e.g., lesson ideas and activities connected to the Colorado Academic Standards).
