The Rural Colorado Science Teacher Leadership and Learning Collective brings together K-12 science teachers in two rural Colorado regions: the Santa Fe Trail BOCES region and the Northwest BOCES region. The Collective meets monthly on Zoom to engage in practitioner inquiry into each other’s science teaching practice through virtual visits to colleagues’ classrooms. By analyzing classroom video and samples of students’ scientific practice from colleagues’ classrooms, the Collective develops stronger and more equitable science teaching to support more meaningful learning experiences for Colorado youth. Each teacher in the Collective is leading the way for science education in their local community. Together, the Rural Colorado Science Teacher Leadership and Learning Collective is leading the way for Colorado science educators and for rural education nationwide.
Teachers of science from elementary, middle, and high schools in the Santa Fe Trail BOCES and the Northwest BOCES regions are welcome to participate. There is no cost or fees for joining the group and participating teachers will receive continuing education credits and a small honorarium. Please contact Melissa Braaten (melissa.braaten@colorado.edu) or Loraine Glidewell (loraine.glidewell@colorado.edu) if you would like to participate or learn more.
