This publicly engaged research project explores open enrollment with local stakeholders in the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD). Drawing on surveys, interviews, enrollment data and other sources of information, this study explores how school choice policies might be better aligned with district goals, including building stronger enrollment and promoting equity, access, and inclusion.

Additional Info
This project grows out of community conversations on the BVSD District Accountability Committee (DAC), a group of approximately 60 parents that represent each school in the district. This project also responds to ongoing work by the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) school board to reconsider and revise open enrollment and school assignment policies. Working with these partners—and other key district staff members—our project is co-designing a study of parents’ school choices that utilize BVSD open enrollment policy. We hope to continue to work with these groups—as well as other district committee and community stakeholders—to connect our study to district questions, needs and planning efforts.
