Changes in Leadership for the Office for Outreach and Engagement

The times they are changin’ for the Office for Outreach and Engagement. Linda Molner Kelley has announced she will resign from her position as Director for Outreach and Engagement.

With more than 25 years of experience at CU-Boulder, Molner Kelley has worked for the Office for Outreach and Engagement for six years, five of which have been in the director’s role.

As a former teacher for a diverse Denver high school, past Assistant Dean of Teacher Education and Partnerships in the School of Education, master gardener, world traveler, and once-dedicated bowler, Molner Kelley has brought a unique blend of strategic vision and liveliness to the Office for Outreach and Engagement and CU-Boulder outreach efforts.

“Linda has been a wonderful colleague and deeply committed to the outreach and engagement work of the campus,” said Anne Heinz, Vice Provost for Outreach and Engagement.

According to Heinz, Molner Kelley has played a key role in implementing recommendations from the Outreach and Engagement report of Flagship 2030; strengthening relationships with faculty and staff; enhancing partnerships with communities statewide; facilitating evaluation studies to document program impact; expanding interdisciplinary and interdepartmental outreach funding opportunities; and fostering an integrated communications plan.

Molner Kelley’s passion for outreach and engagement stems from her work with teachers and prospective teachers and extends into her commitment to strengthening community partnerships.

“This has been a terrific job,” Molner Kelley said. “My work in education and partnership development prepped me for a way of thinking that is useful in outreach and engagement initiatives. For schools to successfully address big, important issues they benefit from a multitude of resources and partners—and the same is true for issues that communities face and that faculty members and their students attempt to study and support.

“We can help faculty translate and advance their scholarly work, and we can help communities find good university partners.”

Molner Kelley will be missed but not too far. Her position is scheduled to transition at the end of the year, but she plans to conduct occasional project-based work in outreach and around the campus on a needs basis.
