CU-Boulder Singers to Host a Night at the Opera in Trinidad Nov. 8

Trinidad residents, prepare to be dazzled by the University of Colorado Boulder Opera Theatre Singers, who are scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 at the Massari Theatre at Trinidad State Junior College (TSJC).

The show is open to the public and aims to entertain opera aficionados and novices alike. The Opera Theatre Singers will share their love of music through performances of select pieces from the repertoire of opera, operetta and musical theatre. Songs performed will include favorites from The Light in the Piazza, Bizet’s Carmen, Les Miserables, and Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.
 
The CU-Boulder Opera Theatre Singers were founded in 2009 as the outreach group of the CU-Boulder Opera program. These talented CU-Boulder students perform for schools, civic groups, and special events across the state. The Opera program at CU-Boulder was been designated a Program of Excellence by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education. 
 
Tickets for the show are $4 for adults and $3 for seniors and children. They can be purchased at the door the evening of event or in advance at the Trinidad Community Foundation, 134 West Main Street in Suite 24, or Curiosities, 305 West Main Street. TSJC students and faculty may attend for free with a school identification card. All proceeds will benefit the Southern Colorado Repertory Theatre.
 
The Nov. 8 event is part of the series called CU in the Community, which is jointly sponsored by Trinidad State Junior College, Trinidad Community Foundation, Trinidad & Las Animas County Chamber of Commerce, Trinidad Times Independent, and the CU-Boulder Office for University Outreach.
