CU-Boulder to Treat Longmont to An Evening at the Opera on February 17, 2011

LONGMONT – Longmont is in for a treat on Thursday, February 17, 2011, when singers from CU-Boulder’s Opera Program take the stage at the Longmont Theater.

Part of the “CU @ the Longmont Public Library” series, nine members of the Opera Theatre Singers willshare their love of music through performances of select pieces from a repertoire of opera, operetta and musical theatre around the theme of "Cirque du Musique." Songs performed will come from works about carnival, circus and festival life.

The CU Opera Program has been designated a “Program of Excellence” by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education. The award was based on the quality of the voice faculty and students, placement of former students in the professional world, and outside support of the program.

The performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Longmont Theatre at 513 Main Street.  Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for general admission seating.  The performance is free and open to the public.  Tickets are not required.

The “CU @ the Longmont Public Library” series is sponsored by the CU-Boulder Office for University Outreach, the Longmont Public Library, and Friends of the Longmont Public Library.
