CU Contemporary Dance Works to Provide Interactive Assembly for Trinidad Schools Feb. 23rd

An ensemble of University of Colorado Boulder MFA dance candidates will lead a full schedule of school performances and workshops that will bring an energizing and intriguing day of dance to approximately 1,300 Trinidad Public School students on Thursday, Feb. 23.  The ensemble will visit two elementary schools in the morning and the middle and high schools in the afternoon. In addition to providing interactive dance outreach and informal performances, the school visits will provide K-12 students with an interactive assembly before the district’s annual standardized testing.

CU Contemporary Dance Works is a graduate student tour company that provides dance outreach through performances and movement classes. The company’s goals are to build vital connections between the people of Colorado and the CU-Boulder Department of Theatre and Dance and cultivate knowledge of and involvement in the art of dance.

Media are invited to attend the event. When visiting the school(s) please coordinate with the school administration concerning photo releases or limitations.

The visit on Feb. 23 is sponsored by the Trinidad Public School District, CU Contemporary Dance Works/Dance Outreach Project, and the CU-Boulder Office for University Outreach. CU Contemporary Dance Works is scheduled to return to Trinidad for a residency May 16-18 with a public performance on Friday, May 18 at 7 p.m. at the Massari Theatre at the Trinidad State Junior College.
