CU @ the Longmont Public Library Series Presents “Israel and Palestine: The Path to Peace and Security”

LONGMONT – What are the key obstacles that prevent Israelis and Palestinians from ending their conflict and achieving peace and security?  How did the conflict and the obstacles arise? What can be done to overcome them and how can the United States play the most constructive role in helping both sides reach agreement?

CU-Boulder’s Ira Chernus will answer these questions, provide a historical context for the conflict and the U.S. role in it, and present a positive vision for a lasting solution on Thursday, March 17, at the Longmont Public Library.

Chernus is a professor of religious studies whose research focuses on war and peace and U.S. foreign policy from a religious history perspective.His presentation, entitled “Israel and Palestine: The Path to Peace and Security, ” is part of the CU @ the Longmont Public Library series. Following the presentation, Professor Chernus will allow some time for questions from the audience.

“CU @ The Longmont Public Library” is sponsored by the CU-Boulder Office for University Outreach, the Longmont Public Library and Friends of the Longmont Public Library. Tickets or reservations are not required and the programs are free and open to the public.
