Professor Elizabeth Fenn to Speak Feb. 15 in Carbondale

February 3, 2017

Elizabeth Fenn, Pulitzer Prize winning author and Walter and Lucienne Driskill Professor of Western American History at CU Boulder, will speak about the North Dakota Mandan Indians at the Carbondale Branch Library, 320 Sopris Ave., in Carbondale on Feb. 15.

Fenn's lecture derives from her book Encounters at the Heart of the World, which tells the story of North Dakota's Mandan Indians. Widely known for hosting Lewis and Clark, the Mandans proved resilient and adaptable in the face of challenges. To find out more about Fenn's research, vist her website.

The lecture is free and open to the public and is the first in a year-long series. Other talks will include Rabbi Sam Boyd, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies and Melanie Yazzie, Professor in Printmaking.
