Public Library Lecture on Jan. 25 to Address Present and Future Climate Change

Climate science will be the focus of a free library presentation by James White, director of the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research (INSTAAR) at the University of Colorado Boulder. The program will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25 at the Louisville Public Library, 951 Spruce Street.

White will present “Climate Change: Where We Are Now and Where We Are Going.” White’s research primarily focuses on the how and why climate changes have occurred in the past, and how carbon dioxide moves between the atmosphere, ocean, and land plants.

“I will review the basic science behind the Earth’s climate system, how humans are impacting it, and put the current climate situation into the context of natural variability,” said White, who is also CU-Boulder professor of geological sciences and environmental studies.

Part of a series called CU at the Library, this Jan. 25 program is jointly sponsored by INSTAAR, the Louisville Public Library and the CU-Boulder Office for University Outreach.
