Renowned CU-Boulder Engineer to Discuss International Development Sept. 8 at Louisville Library

Bernard Amadei, University of Colorado Boulder professor and founder of Engineers Without Borders-USA, will offer local citizens his global perspectives on sustainable human development at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Louisville Public Library, 951 Spruce Street.

The program, “Role of Science and Technology in Sustainable Human Development,” is free and open to the public.
 
Amadei, CU-Boulder professor of civil, environmental, and architectural engineering, is well known for the creation of the nonprofit organization Engineers Without Borders-USA and the co-founding of Engineers Without Borders-International. He is credited with pioneering a new approach to engineering education by involving students in outreach projects in developing countries. His presentation on Sept. 8 will focus on the mission of Engineers Without Borders and the implementation of sustainable and appropriate technology solutions in developing communities worldwide.
 
Since its inception in 2002, Engineers Without Borders-USA has supported 350 projects in more than 45 developing countries and changed the lives of millions of people.
 
Amadei’s presentation will complement the Discover Tech exhibit, a travelling museum-quality exhibition currently on display at the Louisville Public Library. Discover Tech is part of the STAR Library Education Network (STAR_Net). 
 
Part of a series called CU at the Library, the Sept. 8 program is jointly sponsored by the Louisville Public Library and the CU-Boulder Office for University Outreach.
