May 27, 2016

Join musicians from the Federal University of Diamantina for a performance on Tuesday, May 31, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Eaton Humanities room 150.

The musicians will perform the recital Jobiniando, which highlights the cultural roots of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais to Bossa Nova music. It also points out the period in which the Brazilian guitarist João Gilberto lived in the city of Diamantina, Minas Gerais, in the mid-1950s, when he came up with the rhythm that revolutionized the Brazilian Popular Music.

The program is free and open to the public. A reception with the musicians will follow the performance. Youth Diamantina Orchestra of Brazil are visiting the U.S. with support of Partners of America. The May 31 program is sponsored by the CU-Boulder International English Center.
