Want to learn about the basics of academic grant writing? 

Join other outreach staff on Nov. 1 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the UMC Rm. 425 for a brown bag hosted by the Outreach and Engagement Professionals Network (OEPN) Steering Committee.

Christine Macdonald, a senior instructor in the Program for Writing and Rhetoric, will lead the workshop, and cover the basics of academic grant writing, including how to frame grant requests according to the funder’s priorities and define commonplace grant terms such as “multiple measures of dollars spent.” Other topics include how to approach the criteria of specific CU system grants, such as the President’s Fund for the Humanities.

Participants are encouraged to bring questions about specific campus or system grants for which they wish to apply, but this is not required.  

Macdonald has taught in the Honors Residential Academic Program (RAP) since 2008, and also teaches a grant writing service-learning course and an academic proposal writing course.

The OEPN was established in 2014 to enhance collaboration, share best practices and increase professional development opportunities among CU Boulder staff and non-tenure track faculty who primarily serve a supportive role in advancing outreach and engagement programs and community partnerships.
