The CU Teach Secondary Math & Science Teacher Licensure program is located in the Fleming Building on the CU Boulder main campus.

We offer a variety of courses and career options for STEM majors:

  • Step-1 and Step-2 are exploratory courses in which you experience what it’s like to be a teacher. Taking these courses is a great way to discover if teaching is a viable career option. These courses are offered in both the fall and spring semesters.
  • The STEM Education Certificate is a 13 credit certificate specifically designed for STEM majors. It includes youth outreach in STEM educational settings (e.g., CU Science Discovery, CU Fiske Planetarium, Thorne Nature Experience, Butterfly Pavilion). In this certificate program,  you learn how to communicate math, science and engineering concepts to people in various fields, such as media, medicine, engineering, academia, business, industry or government.
  • A variety of Secondary Math & Science Teacher Licensure programs are available for students with STEM majors. Undergraduates can pursue a teaching license while earning their 4-year degree in math, science, or Engineering Plus. We also offer options for post-baccalaureate students as well as the MA+ Program for those who want to earn a Master’s degree in math or science while getting their teaching license. (Applications for undergraduate and post-bac programs are rolling or occur at the time of initial application to the university whereas the MA+ program has summer semester admissions only with a February 1 deadline.)

If you are interested in any of these program options, please visit the CU Teach website.

You can also simply enroll in Step-1 (EDUC 2020) and get started!  (This is the very first course for the STEM Education Certificate and the undergraduate licensure program.)
