Our program aims to provide the Hispanic / Latinx community with educational experiences in their native language in the field of astronomy through three observing nights provided in Spanish. Two of the three nights will be based at the CU Boulder main campus, where visitors will rotate among three stations: Fiske Planetarium, Physics demos and Sommers Bausch Observatory (SBO). Each station will support a narrative reinforcing the human connection to Earth and the Cosmos. Specifically, we will highlight the contributions to astronomy made by ancestral civilizations of Latin America as well as current Latinx contributions made to modern astronomy. For the third night, we will use the mobile planetarium (provided by Fiske) to be used at a community event in Spanish.

  We provide graduate students and faculty the opportunity to engage with a diverse community of Spanish-speakers in Colorado, as a way of paying homage to their roots, and fostering new generations of students. Through our anti-colonial engagement, we hope to provide an open space for the Hispanic community in Colorado to interact with CU Boulder resources in their native language, Spanish.
