CU Boulder’s School of Education and Boulder Book Store invite teachers, students, librarians and families to join our FREE CHILDREN’S BOOK FESTIVAL featuring award-winning authors and illustrators!

The festival includes the following components:

  • Friday, Oct. 27 – Two Children’s Book Author Panels (live-streamed on Zoom)
    • Picturebook panel (Gr. K-3): 10:30-11:30 a.m.
    • Chapter book panel (Gr. 3-6): 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
    • Free books for Colorado registrants, while supplies last!
  • Wednesday, Oct. 25 – “Censorship Unbound: A Panel on Book Bans and the Right to Read in K-8 Schools and Libraries” (Boulder Public Library – Canyon Theater)
    • Panel featuring a children’s author, elementary teacher, and public librarian: 5:30-6:30 p.m.
    • Reception and book sales/signing: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 26 – Author visits to local schools (by invitation)
    • The featured authors and illustrators will visit select schools in the Boulder Valley, St. Vrain Valley, Jefferson County, Denver Public Schools and Adams 12 school districts for an in-depth experience focusing on their featured book.

Free resources created by School of Education students can be downloaded from our program website (e.g., author features, book discussion guides, digital book trailers, character maps and song lists).
