The Precollegiate Development Program (PCDP) at the University of Colorado Boulder is an institutionally funded academic enhancement program for underrepresented middle and high school students. It is designed to motivate and prepare first-generation students in pursuit of their higher education goals. PCDP is structured to ensure that students are academically prepared to enroll and be successful at any postsecondary institution of the student’s choice.

PCDP works primarily with school districts along the Front Range of Colorado. Through partnerships, students are recruited in 7th grade and have the opportunity to participate in the program through high school graduation. The program sponsors year-round activities in which both student and parents can learn skills and find resources that can help them successfully navigate the public school system and help prepare them for their eventual transition to the college or university of their choice. Parents are required to participate alongside their student in all academic year activities.

Culminating in a five-week senior summer residential program, PCDP students transition into their final year of high school. This residential experience provides students with an opportunity to live in student housing on the Boulder campus while taking academic course work that enhances academic learning experience.

The program is offered at no cost to participants.
