LEAP is a new learning-partnership between students from CU Boulder’s Theatre & Dance Department and students from Boulder Valley School District’s (BVSD) Intensive Learning Center (ILC). The ILC is a Special Education program administered by BVSD for students with significant learning differences and differentiated educational needs.

Through LEAP, graduate and undergraduate students in CU’s Dance program provide weekly, virtual dance classes to ILC students from Centaurus High School and Fairview High School. Additionally, ILC teachers provide mentorship and guidance to CU students who are learning best practices in working with neurodiverse students. CU Dance students gain invaluable mentorship and real-world experience, and BVSD’s students are led in healthy, joyful dance classes and community-building.

    Additional Info

We provide weekly, in-person and/or virtual dance classes to ILC students for several of the Boulder Valley School District Schools to facilitate social and emotional learning to neurodiverse students. An additional objective is to provide a space that fosters shared learning for both neurotypical and neurodiverse students which not only provides exposure to creative movement but also destigmatizes disability and encourages radical inclusion.
